Welcome to AMIBCP v4.53 11. This is the latest version of the AMI-Basic Compatibility Pack, which is a set of scripting tools by Mercedes Olson, a writer for studios such as Blizzard, LEGO and Scribblenauts Games. The pack includes many useful scripts that help programmers design game logic with ease. It has found widespread use among game developers throughout the industry and has become an indispensable tool for people who work with games on any scale. The scripts automate or greatly simplify processes that would otherwise be time-consuming or require writing custom code in programming languages like Java Script or C++, among others. It is a set of basic commands, a "language" of sorts, that adds a vast amount of functionality to the AMI-Basic language. The scripts have been written in a way to be as flexible as possible for easy use and extension by the user. This means that there are some functions that can be extended or altered with custom code. The scripts have been placed into several different categories, all of which are listed below:For more screenshots and information visit Mercedes Olson's blog post on the AMIBCP v4.53 11 release on Basic Gaming Media at http://basicgamesmedia.com/ami/ami-basic-compatibility-pack-released/. AMIBCP is an open source project that allows game developers to create games for multiple platforms using the one common programming language that all versions of the game share. The AMI-Basic Compatibility Pack is written in AMI-Basic, which is a library of gamescripts that contain many common commands, functions and techniques used by many different types of games. Since version 4.3 last updated on April 2011, this pack has been released into the public domain and can be downloaded from AMIBCP's main site at http://ami-basic.com/. Source code for all packages can be found at the AMI-Basic Compatibility Pack Source Code Repository hosted on github at https://github. com/amibcp/amibcp-src/. No prior knowledge of scripting languages is required in order to use the AMIBCP. The C and GML Pack in particular contains a handful of scripts that can be modified and extended by users who already have experience with scripting or coding. More documentation on how to install and use the AMIBCP can be found at https://wiki.mercedessolutionsllc.com/display/AMI/AMI-Basic+Compatibility+Pack . The site also contains a host of samples, tutorials and example projects. In order to use the AMIBCP, one must have AMI-Basic v6.12 or higher, the latest version of the AMI-Basic editor. In addition it is highly recommended that you have a graphics editing program to help you with creating graphics and artwork for your games. Finally you will also need a web host that supports PHP and a database. The AMIBCP comes with a C/C++ compiler for AMI-Basic, which includes several routines to make your programming easier. The scripts were written by Mercedes Olson, who has been an active member of the educational gaming community since 2004. eccc085e13
